Stop Cooning

028_1601I am well aware that some may take issue with my words here, but it is time that we call out these traitors – loudly. These people remind me of Judas in the Jesus story where for a brief moment they’ll got some attention and a few pieces of silver for their treasonous actions that will affect generations and all black people. I am going to make a bold statement and say some of these coons today are not worthy of being called Uncle Tom’s because it would be an insult to that term. What they seem not to realize is that when the dominant society has finished using them, they are thrown under the bus and become just another black face they deem worthless!

Black people and others talk about the biggest problem plaguing the black community, and everybody has a different issue or thing that is harming, bringing down or impeding the process of this group. Some say, and I agree that the root-cause is White Supremacy and White Privilege, but it is the coons in my view that is the greatest cancer impeding progress in this community! In other words, most black people are so brainwashed by religion that anytime there is a disturbance these folk from the dominant society will bring out some preach to calm or fool black people into thinking everything is alright; let’s march and pray. It has not work in four-hundred years and will not work now!

Cooning today has risen to epidemic and, dare I say, dangerous proportions. Don’t believe me – just watch the news and notice who you see supporting the oppressors agenda on their propaganda vehicles. Cooning is a verb derived from the word coon. A coon was/is a person of African descent whose sole purpose is to entertain white people, mediate the bad practices they are involved in; usually by those blacks with some visibility. Or some sellout paid to promote their negative behavior or to divert stereotypical imagines of an issue and those that promote ignorance.

The term is an insulting term or should be. The phase was means “black person”, a fool, was in use by 1837, said to be ultimately from Portuguese barracoos “building constructed to hold slaves for sale.” No doubt boosted by the enormously popular blackface minstrel act “Zip Coon” written by George Washington Dixon that debuted in New York City in 1834. These ‘coons’ started out as wearing black face, characterized by having big eyes, buffoonish, always smiling and painting big red lips on their face. These people would tap dance, play instruments and sing to entertain white folk.

Malcolm X called them House Negroes, but I have come to know that is too kind of a term for today’s traitors. Let us remember that it was these sorts of people who were embedded in both Martin and Malcolm’s camp that ultimately lead to their deaths. Not to mention, they were involved in snitching too and told Massa of the countless slave revolts planned. It is imperative that we call out and remove such people from our mists. To do that we must each do our part to ensure they are not relevant to anyone! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

Hot topic for a hard talk. I asked this question in past discussions on another site, “While Black Christians are considered coons by other Blacks who have different views on faith (yet live in the same troubled community), how can there be unity in our neighborhoods when certain people are set to push against any effort hosted by local churches to bring the community together?
