Still Looking For The Great White Hope

mayweather8They are at it again! Since Heavyweight Jack Johnson who was the best boxer in the world more than a hundred years ago; they have been and still searching for the GREAT WHITE HOPE! Last night’s sparring match was no different. The fight was far from professional and how did they give a man who has never had a professional boxing match a fight for some kind of championship?

After all the hype, all the talk, and all the profanity, it simply was unrealistic to believe McGregor, the UFC champion, could beat Mayweather in their pay-per-view showdown last night at the T-Mobile Arena. So no one should have been surprised when Mayweather methodically broke down McGregor before scoring a 10th-round technical knockout. Honestly, I don’t think Mayweather broke a sweat the entire fight!

So what did we learn from this exercise? Well, it was entertaining! The best boxer on the planet and the UFC superstar brought a lot of attention to their respective sports, and those who spent $100 on pay-per-view and thousands to witness the bout in person must not have remembered that there is a sucker born every day. Surely this was not the best boxing has to offer. I guess McGregor was just happy he was still standing at the end.

Mayweather, who scored his first knockout since 2011, looked a bit rusty early on after having not fought in two years. His boxing inexperience showed, especially late in the fight when he tried to clinch. By the end, his face was a sitting target. As a boxing fan, this was a disgrace to me. However, I am glad the black guy got a 100 million dollar payday! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

Two Of A Kind

1024x1024Of all the things in the world – I never thought I would be quoting Don King but seeing today’s world he has a point – “Only in America”! I never thought I would see the racism and bigotry of my youth return but with the Trump era – it has returned. If I were to compare the two, ironically, 45 and con-man Don are the same probably why Don endorsed him. There is no doubt that both men have a dubious history at best (according to public accounts). However, they ascribe to the same moniker “Only in America”.

I won’t go so far as to say either Don see everything as racial or black and white. I will say they see everything as green. A con-artist sees capitalism as the way no matter who gets stepped on or in their way. It is all about cash and cash only! They will go anywhere and do anything for a buck.

The history books tell us about their despicable past and so do the boxers and people in the fight game. Don has robbed and taken advantage of every fighter he has been associated with – just think – he robbed Ali! He and the president have been sued by more people, probably, than anyone in history. So where else in the world could this happen but in America?

Not only did Don ripped off Ali but Tyson, Witherspoon and countless others and he made us think he was the greatest promoter on earth and 45 did the same to America. Corruption seemed to be the root of both of their business practices. Fact is to be involved in real estate and boxing one has to have mob affiliations but it is never spoken.

To both their credits, they can sell dreams like any good con-artist. They can pick your pockets, sell you a dream and make you thank them for it while picking your pockets! So I say only in America. They both should be called “the King of lies and naturally when things don’t work out; they both cry foul and become the victim! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

Commentary: A Disaster In Charge

pFJMtgl6S22Xjo6kW27YI am a proud HBC graduate and have earned a Master’s Degree. I was not a political science major, nor am I a republican, democrat, or independent. I would say I am black and gifted with common sense. I said all of that to say since 2002 I have been a professor which taught me to use my critical thinking skills. At the beginning of every class, during my introduction, I made sure that each student know this; “follow the money! If you do you will come to the right conclusion and find the answer”!

It has been said that money is the root of all evil. Therefore, you will find any wrong doing and gage the character of whoever you are dealing with. I know firsthand because I was once married and this character was the absolute worst person on the face of the earth! She was a lying stealing degenerate but one day I realized that love had nothing to do with it and I began to follow the money – so she was done!

I said all of that because white folk are continuing to justify everything the Donald does because of their love, bigotry, and agrees with him for his hatred of Obama. They will have to do as I did chose reality and common sense over what you believe is love. I have to say; there has to be a special kind of stupid to continue the same thing and expect a different result.

This man, 45, lies with every breath and it is obvious. He does not have a stellar history in anything. He has been sued more than almost anyone in America and everyone around him appears to be a crook. But the GOP and these racist are with eyes wide open stick with him and he will either blow up the world or steal the country blind!

I have not had too many legal problems but I do know the when you lies the judge will cancel you argument or nullify your case. I was sued for 10 million dollars and the other guy repeatedly lied and the judge threw out the case.

I was particularly disturbed when this crook spoke with so much sympathy for his former campaign manager whose home was raided by armed FBI agents waking him and his wife up in middle of the night with a warrant. I remember during the crack era they invented a bulldozer type vehicle to go through the walls of a house to raid a black person’s home. I have lived a longtime and can recall white people being so evil they had to put them on a leash to stop their dastardly deeds.

Donald and his gang have stolen untold millions, allegedly, and most of them think it alright because HE IS WHITE and they are doing everything in their power to cover it up! This guy bankrupted a casino, caught in a blatant act of discrimination, and they suspect him of being involved in laundered money; and their line is to us that they have no evidence! All because he wants to make America white again! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

How Much Do You Support Colin Kaepernick

GUFJZwTHXUlOOuD-800x450-noPadMost of the black people I know have an opinion about everything Colin Kaepernick protest and now he is being blackballed. It all began because of what began on August 26, 2016, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat down during the national slave anthem (National Anthem) before the 3rd preseason game of the upcoming 2016 NFL season.  Afterwards he made a bold statement:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Not since the great Muhammad Ali’s who refused to serve in the Vietnam War has any one made a conscious decision by an athlete taking such a direct stance highlighting the injustices of black  people; just like Ali, the reaction to Kaepernick’s stance has been met with passionate responses, often times divided by the color line. White people, of course, they are incensed!

I will proudly say, I am very proud of the man because he risked everything for what he believes and uses his money to backup that belief. Since his protest to a take a knee, he has donated millions to charity toward racial issues. Most of you would not give a homeless man a cup of coffee. However, it has caused many of the million dollar slaves, past and present, to have a mostly negative opinion on the matter – some shameless, I might add!

Best of all, Kaepernick’s protest made the conversation about “racial/police brutality” front-page for the large part of the NFL season, a feat never done before in its history. This is a good thing and most should support the issue of injustice. He made his decision without counsel of any of these people and was brave enough to stand by it. I remember what saw with Muhammad Ali; they stripped him of the championship title, did not allow him to box, and hurt his family. See what they do! End the end history proved that he was correct.

So the owners have black balled Colin. I see your post shared on all over social media. Is that the limit of your support? If that is so – all you are doing is talking loud and saying nothing! I can remember people, black people, did the same in Ali’s case; whisper amongst themselves and did nothing. Or I remember that black people dared not mention the name Malcolm X – let alone be in the same place with him.

If you are appalled by this, then show your power by boycotting the NFL until Kaepernick gets signed to a team or at least given a fair chance. This means to not watch any games, no social media comments about your favorite team before/during/after the games, don’t attend the stadiums, and don’t buy any merchandise which represents the league or your favorite team.

We also understand the purpose of Colin Kaepernick’s protest is FAR more important than any of the games you will ever watch. Simply put, if things stay the same for the way America — where “all men are created equal” — treats people of color, then your loved ones, friends, and children will eventually be affected as well.

Finally, all of us must remember that the NFL never wanted black people to play the game. The Colin Kaepernick situation really shines a light on how much the NFL really cares about the 90% of its Black athletes and you! So if you are not contributing to the problem – shut up! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

The American Shame – Failure In Chief

downloadThe man who fooled white folk into believing that he was the greatest of all times and could do anything; come to find it was another “lies. The first six months of Trump’s presidency have been a monumental failure. Apart from the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is the only significant achievement he has accomplished; if you want to call that an accomplishment! This week the collapse of Trump and the GOP’s effort to repeal Obamacare is the capstone to one of the most bizarre and disorderly chapters in the history of the American presidency.

If you consider they have been campaigning and pledging to end this law for 8 years, taken over sixty votes to repeal it and not do it. But more to the point, it looks like amateur night in his administration! Frankly, I have lost count on the number of people that have left, resigned, or quit their jobs in this administration. With the ouster of Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus, and with the addition of General Kelly – they are trying to reset. Look the man has not gotten more than a 40% approval rating!

The troubles of the White House, of course, flow from the notoriously undisciplined no nothing President. His following President Obama is like Clearance Thomas following Thurgood Marshall – a disgrace! They cried for eight years that Obama was taking the country in the wrong directing – away from white supremacy. Where is this fool taking the country? To hell!

Let me remind you that this guy is under investigation along with about a dozen of his staff and cronies! Then there are the children in the way. Also, he is the laziest president to date. Somebody needs to either remove or take control over Trump’s Twitter account, which is a huge distraction to governance.

Let me quote from his new Communications  Director “the fish stinks from the head down”, who has already revealed that he will be worse than worthless, a blabbermouth and an attention-seeking wrecker in a White House. Trump, too, over the past two years has revealed his colors; he is a disaster! The terrifying chaos he has already engendered in six months strongly suggests that he will not even serve out his term. He is already talking about pardoning himself! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

President Shady

923231_10151617714755070_1689464759_nI am so grateful that I have lived long enough to have witnessed and seen so many things in my lifetime but I never thought I would see this guy “they” elected president. The chief birther is proving every day that he and his administration is a disaster! He berated President Obama at every turn and yet he cannot get any people of substance to join his team. Let me be more to the point, every day we hear about another scandal, his wife does not even live with him, and he seems to be obsessed with Obama. People all over the world have and are denouncing him. He is probably the first American president asked to be dis-invited from England.

I have seen and known about the most horrendous criminals and all were able to obtain a lawyer but it is reported that this guy is being refuse this by a number of prominent law firms. To date, he has not passed or accomplished a thing but his loyal supporter gives him an “A”. Of course, there are those who agree with him that he is taking the country back – I still ask from what? So the only answer is from the others!

The problem is “him”! It has gotten to the point that even the people he appointed to positions are turning on him. They knew who they voted for and now – buyers’ remorse! We lived through eight years of what history will record as the greatest president and even a scandal free president of our lifetime – only to get the worst president ever but the racist love him.

In four months of his term, he has done everything wrong that can be imagined. From where I sit – it is time to bend over and kiss our ass goodbye. It appears to me in taking back their country he has adopted the old philosophy– “I am white and say so or as we say talking loud and saying nothing!” I will say that even Ray Charles can see that this is all about him and the ways he can make money and benefit from. He refuses to release his tax returns, hired his children, and has not removed himself from ownership of his businesses.

There is a consensus that his presidency is worst than Watergate and I say to those who say give him a chance is a special kind of stupid! More dangerous is that this guy has made it OK to openly racist. One of his children spoke out saying that his critics are “not even people” – so what does that say about a bedrock principle or him! Certainly, the black could never have gotten away with any of this behavior! I would say this guy is a bad actor and a disaster! This is a really simple situation – just follow the money!!! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

The Dubious Friends of Donald Trump

DO YOU AGREE?

1000If history has taught us anything; it is America and its thrust for capitalism only recognizes money. I have a favorite saying, which is “follow the money, and you will always get the answer”. Therefore, I have a solution to all of the problems black people face. It is to boycott! See America is coming up on the most prosperous time of the year – the holiday season. It is time to stop listening to these chicken picking so-call leaders and spokesmen appointed for the black community and put in the work.

Black people have marched, sang, begged and prayed long enough. All of these are strategies, yes, but in four- hundred years none of them has produced anything. Therefore, I say it’s time to take a lesson from the very successful Montgomery Boycott and not buy a damn thing. Obviously, it is necessary to spend money for the essential, which should be done by supporting and buying from black-owned businesses. If we were to shock the system and begin affecting the pocketbooks of the powers that be – then we will see a change we can believe! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

Pledge To Hit ‘EM Where It Hurts

In the same vain used in early protests, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, economic protest is effective. It worked then changing every black life and it will work now.

Take this day to send a strong message and don’t spend any money!!!

I accept the pledge. Everyone can protest!

Just Saying!

Well the stage is set! Mittman and Robber the conservatives dynamic dual, different from Batman and Robin, will destroy America as appose to saving it. We thought the last republican candidates for president was scary – these two appear to be the nightmare on our street. Maybe I’ll put it this way – these two will make the last republican president look like a girl scout. If they win the election in November – we should be very afraid!!!

This pair of impractical ideologues with excessive confidence in their own moral righteousness could do what the George Wallace and Bull Connor types could only imagine. I am not one to get into the business of giving Godly advice but I think it’s time to pray to your higher power. Since the Boy Wonder is now on the scene, let me just touch on this guy who could be a heartbeat from the throne. I have a feeling a lot more material is coming.

First, Ryan is not a “fiscal conservative.” A fiscal conservative pays for the government he wants. Ryan never has. His early “Roadmap for America’s Future” didn’t balance the budget until the 2060s and added $60 trillion to the national debt. Ryan’s revised plan, passed by the House in 2011, wouldn’t reach balance until the 2030s while adding $14 trillion in debt. It adds $6 trillion in debt over the next decade alone — yet Republicans had the chutzpah to say they wouldn’t raise the debt limit! I remain mystified why President Obama never hammered home this reckless contradiction by insisting that the GOP “raise the debt ceiling just by the amount it would take to accommodate the debt in Paul Ryan’s budget.”

Ryan is an extreme “small government conservative.” Ronald Reagan ran government at 22 percent of gross domestic product when our population was much younger. Ryan and Romney want to run government at 20 percent of GDP even as the number of Americans on Social Security and Medicare doubles.

Even if we slow these programs’ growth, it’s impossible to shrink the federal role in an aging society this sharply without eliminating vast swaths of what Americans have come to expect from government — not to mention shortchanging already lagging investments in research and development and infrastructure. Over time, Ryan’s “vision” would decimate most federal activities beyond Social Security, Medicare and defense.

As an African American who knows what America was like not too long ago. It was the liberals agenda that created the enduring achievements of civil rights to environmental laws to Medicare out of boldness and compassion. Ask yourself a few questions and carefully consider the consequences.

How can Ryan justify his Medicaid cuts when, as the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation found, they would likely leave 14 million to 19 million poor people without health coverage? How can he justify tax proposals that, as The New Republic’s Alec MacGillis pointed out, would reduce the rate on Mitt Romney’s rather substantial income to less than 1 percent? How can he claim his budgets are anti-deficit measures when, as The Post’s Matt Miller has noted, his tax cuts would add trillions to the debt and we wouldn’t be in balance until somewhere around 2030?

Finally, the Boy Wonder wants to cut Social Security, yet he was raised on it. Ironic isn’t it that you have paid your money into it and he wants to take it away or hope you die before you can use it. There’s a belief in some quarters that the world will end, as the Mayan’s predict, on December 21, 2012. I predict that if these two win in November – the world might just as well have ended for millions of middle class Americans. And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

THE INTERVIEW

http://johntwills.com

We’re getting ready!

Romney’s Bain

I am an uncompromising history fanatic and some call me an expert, but I prefer to say I am one who seeks the truth. While we live in an era when so much history is being made we should be excited for the time in which we live. Last week, for example, we witnessed the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the president’s signature legislation the health-care law the Good Ol’ Boys call Obamacare. This was the most profound piece of legislation since the “New Deal”.

So let’s talk about Romney and his past. He started and built the venture capital and asset-management firm which was nothing more than a money-making machine. So what’s wrong with that? Well Bain Capital is a company that doesn’t and has never made anything; it invests. It spots trends, looks at promising companies tapping into those trends and then stakes its capital on improving a company, using Bain’s sector and financial experts to, as they say, help company’s get over a capital shortage or help it expand.

The companies that Bain identified and invested in, and not in a small way, while Romney was at the helm, were Microsoft, Stream Global Services, ModusLink, and StatsChipPac. These companies are now among the biggest outsourcing companies in the world, with call centers, factories and facilities, mostly in Asia, but also across the globe, that support U.S. high-tech companies. The mission of these companies was to help big U.S. companies outsource and offshore. And let me add that this strategy was and is designed to support a low wage business model.

Even his own Republican cohorts like Newt Gingrich said: “The Bain model is to go in at a very low price, borrow an immense amount of money, pay Bain an immense amount of money and leave. I’ll let you decide if that’s really good capitalism. I think that’s exploitation.” Then slick Rick of Texas said: “There is something inherently wrong when getting rich off failure and sticking it to someone else is how you do your business. I happen to think that that is indefensible.”

So if he can be eaten by his own, who by the way does not appear to think much of his thinking, raise the issue – then why can’t President Obama raise the issue? Frankly, the president should have done so during the debate on financial regulatory reform. I should say there’s nothing inherently wrong with private equity, which plays an important role in the economy. Let me add that there’s nothing wrong with wealth and those who risk their capital in private-equity ventures should be rewarded when those deals pay off.

Romney himself acknowledges that the free markets need rules and regulations in order to function and we know certain dealings are prohibited and should be criminal like insider trading. So it is reasonable to ask whether some highly leveraged buyout deals, of the kind that Bain and other private-equity firms often conduct, should fall into the same thumb-on-the-scale category as insider trading.

Suppose a company is failing and appears beyond rescue. Suppose a private-equity firm buys the company with borrowed money, burdens it with more debt, and then spends the next few years firing workers, selling assets, eliminating pension plans — all while collecting handsome “management fees.” If you can recall losses at the nation’s largest and supposedly best-run bank, JPMorgan Chase — at least $2 billion and perhaps much more.

This is what Rick Santorum said in March: “I heard Governor Romney here called me an economic lightweight because I wasn’t a Wall Street financier like he was. Do you really believe this country wants to elect a Wall Street financier as the president of the United States? Do you think that’s the kind of experience we need? Someone who’s going to take and look after, as he did, his friends on Wall Street and bail them out at the expense of Main Street America?”

If you read my thoughts and words you know I don’t think much of the GOP or their henchmen but I agree with Santorum in this instance where I have to ask the question is this the guy we want to be president. I will go further and say Romney’s personality traits remind me of the “Robber Barons” of old. I would suggest that this so-called “Job Creator” needs to go offshore where he and his buddy’s send jobs.

Would he do this to the American Treasury and the American people if he were to become president? I say, yes! And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…
