The 13th Amendment Abolishes Slavery, Except for Prisons

(3)This is an important book that explains how black people are still viewed as nothing by Famed activist, author, and television personality Marc Lamont Hill. Hill sat down for an exclusive interview where he spoke about his new book, “Nobody: Casualties of America’s War on the Vulnerable, from Ferguson to Flint and Beyond.” He revealed that he got the idea for the book after visiting Ferguson following Mike Brown’s death, which he compared to a modern day lynching. Hill added that while waiting on a proposal for the book, similar police brutality deaths took place, prompting him to take a closer look at the situation as a whole.

During the conversation, Hill shared his thoughts on the police and how he has a heightened expectation of them to protect us, but he added that he thinks the world would be a better place if we watched our communities and didn’t have police. He also clarified that there’s a difference in people snitching and witnessing a crime unfold in front of them. He adds that if there is a rapist running around the neighborhood, it isn’t snitching if you alert the authorities to the situation.
