White On White Crime

(3)The conservatives have labeled crimes that occur in the Black community as “Black on Black Crime”. I am of the belief that crime occurs where people live to include crimes such as murder; people kill where they live. I am in no way condoning or sanctioning this behavior in either community. However, to be clear, let me send my sympathies to the families of all the lives lost in such tragedies.

It seems like once a week a cop shoots an unarmed black person for literally nothing, and there is no outrage or sympathy at all from white folk. They point to Chicago talking about black murders and rightfully condemn them, and so do I. However, the same folks are not outraged when a white crazy in involved in a mass shooting event, which, by the way, occurs often! These white males shoot up schools, theaters, churches, and any number of public places killing the innocent and defenseless. But, somehow they don’t label this “white on white crime”; rather they say this/these people must be mentally ill.

What is distinctly different is that the Republicans and the NRA believe the second amendment requires everyone to carry a gun, crazy or not, and, if you are white, has the right to use it as they see fit! This, by the way, was not the original intent of the Second Amendment! The fact is when White on White crime takes place; it’s never talked about in the same way it is when Blacks commit a crime or when the police kill a black person. Think about it, if a black man were to shoot up a school or theater, white folk and their police who begin rounding up ever black man in the town and put them in a concentration camp.

This could well be as Malcolm said: “the chicken coming home to roost.” They propagate “the only good gun is a good guy with a gun” and of course, what they mean is a white person with a gun. The truth is – this is the most insane narrative ever uttered. Because if you are a person with a gun, this does not make you a good guy at all. This narrative has gained traction for those who buy guns and use them to take life, which is simply wrong. Remember their one-time hero Zimmerman, who I call a ZERO!

In the United States, a White person is almost six times more likely to be killed by another White person than by a Black person, according to FBI homicide data. In 2011, there were more cases of Whites killing Whites than there were Blacks killing Blacks. However, the mainstream media obsesses over Black on Black violence and rarely mentions the problem of White on White violence.

These statistics has not led to a media outcry about the problem of White on White crime or the unique pathology of the White community. However, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, for the period of 1980 to 2008, a majority (53.3 percent) of gang-related homicides were committed by White offenders, and the majority of gang homicide victims (56.5 percent) were White. When was the last time you’ve seen on the news, discussions about a White gang problem?

Let’s just review some of the mass shootings and killings. There was the Boston Bombers, Columbine, Sandy Hook, The Church in Charleston, several movie theaters attacks – get the point. So when the Fox News types talk about the horrors they pretend to care so much about that happens in the black community. Don’t be so shocked when the reality hits you in the face. In fact, I can’t recall any incident by a black person like this occurring in the black community.

According to statistics from the Justice Department, White men are more likely to kill than any other racial group and White men top the list in all other categories. Crimes committed by White people are explained as deviations of the individual but have nothing to do with race, but crimes committed by Blacks or Latino’s are somehow attributed to race. Gang-bangers from South Chicago has somehow become a symbol that Black men are to be feared, but you don’t get the same fear that one could attach to the brutal murders committed by Neo-Nazi skinheads.

So, why does the media still perpetuate the lie of Black criminality? Is it because one in 15 Black men are in prison? Resulting from the racial biases in the War on Drugs contribute to the high incarceration rates. Studies show that because the systems sustained policies to keep black people impoverished, and their focus on inserted drugs into the so-called urban communities is one of the reasons for the carnage that occurs.

It is a documented fact that when the movie cowboy was president they were caught inserting drugs into the black community. Then the so-call job creators took away all the jobs, sent them overseas or taken them to white communities denying able black citizens the opportunity to be employed. Add to that the wretched education system that segregates and has failed the least of thee. This is a recipe for disaster!

So who is the real menace to society? Or will you continue to believe the hype that gun-toting gangster rappers and black men are the evil? If so, why can’t we blame a White man with a pistol being used to symbolize Second Amendment rights? Oh yes, I cannot leave out the most dangerous crime: White Collar Crime! So don’t believe the hype! And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

BY THE NUMBERS

The Second Amendment Truth

2There is alway talk about the Second Amendment, usually promoted largely by groups like the NRA. Do you know the real reason the Second Amendment was enacted? Did you know why it says, “State” instead of “Country”? Well, much like most early laws, it was for white citizens. The truth is it was to preserve the slave patrol militias in the southern states, which was necessary to get Virginia’s vote. What was called militias initially; it was a reference to “slave patrols” regulated by the states. Slaves were not allowed guns or any weapons!

Laws were passed in Georgia, for example, that required all plantation owners and their male white employees to be members of the Georgia Militia, and for those armed militia members to make monthly inspections of the quarters of all slaves in the state. The Georgia statutes required patrols, under the direction of commissioned militia officers, to examine every plantation each month with authorization to search “all Negro Houses for offensive Weapons and Ammunition”. If weapons were found, the law authorized them to apprehend and give twenty lashes to any slave found in violation.

Let me add that this was not germane to Georgia alone, but most southern slave-holding states! Before and up to the signing of the Constitution hundreds of substantial slave uprisings had occurred across the South. Blacks outnumbered whites in many areas, and the state militias were used to both prevent and to put down slave uprisings. The fact is slavery could only exist in the context of a police state, and the enforcement of that police state was the explicit job of militias.

Think about it, if slaves had guns they could be emancipated, which would collapse the institution of slavery, which means the southern economic and social systems.

I am not going to expound upon this debate further because when black people, i.e., the Black Panthers, tried to exercise their right under the Second Amendment the rules of the game changed. Something called CONITEL was put into play, and the California Governor signed a bill to deny that right. The fact is that the Second Amendment was conceived largely to preserve the institution of slavery.

Actor and Activist Danny Glover said this recently: “I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms… The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans. So, a revolt from people who were stolen from their land or a revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the Second Amendment is.”

Anyone who has read the Constitution knows that it says nothing about the rights of people of color or women. Therefore to think that the Second Amendment had anything to do with the rights of all people are simply wrong.

There is a huge void between fact and fiction. I would suggest that we know the real history and not His-Story; more importantly be careful when those on the right preach propaganda as again fiction is far from fact. And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

The GOP Right-Wing Drumbeat

2

The drumbeat of the Republican Party’s dogma looms large in this political season as the GOP desperately try to find someone to take “their” country back. The last group that ran for the GOP Republican nomination in 2012 were called clowns but this time – WOW; they have a marching band. We will witness endless debates with the kind of political rhetoric unlike any that I’ve ever seen. Wait a minute; this is going to be the greatest show on earth. At which time America, because of the Republicans, face a greater divide that could approach Armageddon.

When Obama was elected, they were predicting terrorist attacks in the first month of his administration and they would do anything to defeat his agenda’s. Of course, it didn’t happen—but the rhetoric sounds good. One the Republican’s has already said, on the first day, if he is elected, he will take military action against Iran. Stands to reason, if any of these guys were to be president, anyone one of the eighteen clowns running are only interested in war. It seems they want to improve on the disaster that was G.W. Bush.

Mud-throwing is a professional sport in politics. We can see from Trump that he will take that premise to a whole new level. The real question is, how far to the right are the Republicans willing to go? For sure, we can expect their rhetoric of refusing to compliment Obama, on anything, is the only platform on their agenda.

Under Nixon, Reagan and both Bush’s, the nation did what it was asked to do for the national good, which, in fact, was not good for anyone but the rich. The opposite party was asked to tone down the rhetoric for the good of the nation’s morale. But not this time, the KKK and the Tea Party rhetoric, and obstructionism that make no sense will be on center stage.

This time the difference in this election season is that the last crop of pretenders projects their bigotry vaguely in subliminal coded language. This “pool of fools” has no shame in their game. One of these pretenders owned a lodge named “N-Word Head” and he is under indictment. Another had a newsletter that espoused racial hatred so vile that one would think he was the Grand Wizard of the Imperial Knights. Some believe black people were better off during slavery.

Wait there’s more! One of them has publically talked about succession. Another said, get off welfare and get a check. Further, one of these guys actually said; he would not have voted for the Civil Rights Act. I can’t leave out the guy who said there is a crisis of culture in urban communities with black men. Who are they talking too or speaking for? I seriously doubt these people would say that about an enemy captured in a time of war.

This language takes me back to a time I thought had long past. This kind of thinking conjures up images of Bull Connor and Strom Thurmond. Let’s face it’s it is possible that the next Commander in Chief might be another Bush, and the thought of this is cause to ask God to bless America. It appears to me from the rhetoric that is being hurled with such distinction that these folks have come from under the hood and taken off the sheets.

Whichever candidate might emerge as the GOP nominee we can be sure they will try to “take back their country”. They WILL DO damage under a cloak of cover and not worry about the law coming for them because they will be the law. So, we are back to the question: How far to the right will the Republicans willing to go?

Moreover, what will they do to for Black people, if elected! I expect a vote to reinstitute slavery. Not one of these clowns has yet to say anything about black issues. And that’s my THOUGHT PROVOKING PERSPECTIVE…

The War On Poverty

1aWar is unjust, evil, and futile because it only benefits the wealthy. It is particularly wretched as the system continues its assault on the poor and defenseless. The day has passed for superficial patriotism in terms of words of false prophets. He who lives with untruth lives in spiritual slavery. Freedom is still the bonus we receive for knowing the truth.

Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth… And the truth shall set you free.” I agree with Dante that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in a period of moral crisis. There comes a time when silence becomes betrayal.

There is an obvious and almost facile connection between the struggles many poor people face as it relates to racial issues. Once there was a shining moment in that struggle where it seemed there was real promise for the poor, or at least hope for both black and white, through Poverty Programs. I watched these programs broken as if they were idle political playthings of a society gone mad. America will never invest the necessary funds or energies in rehabilitation of its poor.

It is estimated that America spends more than $500,000 to kill each enemy soldier. While we do not spend a hundred dollars for each person classified as poor, and much of that goes for salaries of people hired to, supposedly, help the poor. Therefore, I am increasingly compelled to see the war or poverty as an enemy of the poor. In addition, the money spent on the space program could feed every person in America. Frankly, this is a cruel manipulation of freedom and justice while anything like a moral political agenda exists, which is a disgrace.

In the end, it is families, women, children, and the elderly who suffer. The system has destroyed its two most cherished institutions: the family and the church. A true revolution of values should cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our present policies. On the one hand, we are called upon to play the Good Samaritan on life’s roadside, but that is only the first step. One day, we must come to see that the whole Jericho Road must be changed so that men and women will not be beaten constantly as they make their journey on life’s highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth with righteous indignation.

The Bible says, “You shall reap what you sow”. With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our world into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to speed up the day when justice will roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream. With this faith, we will be able to speed up the day when the lion and the lamb will lie down together, and every man will sit under his own vine and fig tree and none shall be afraid because the words of the Lord have spoken it.”

We can change the world but first we must change ourselves. If we can have respect for the living maybe the died might not die without dignity. The war on poverty is just a war on the souls of man! And that’s my THOUGHT PROVOKING PERSPECTIVE…

A Case For Reparations

1aIt’s been nearly five hundred years since that fateful day in the year of our Lord 1619, when about twenty people from Africa were first dragged onto the shores of this place they called “merica” to be slaves. Since that day, people of African descent have been chastised, criticized, punished, beaten, robbed, raped, and murdered at the hands of the oppressor. To that end, the decedent’s of those people still view all of us as the Constitutions says as three/fifths human.

This was done while the culprits, people of little conscience have enjoyed wealth and prosperity as a result of our never ending patriotism. When I think about America’s enormous wealth and power derived from its tremendous control of resources and “the least of thee”; I think about the sacrifices our families and forefathers’ made to make all of this possible. It was our labor that built this country, and we are responsible in large part for the great wealth and power America possesses. We are a unique people, a forgiving people, a steadfast people, and a brave people unlike any known to mankind.

Upon our backs, laden with the stripes of punishment for what they believed was for discipline and in spite of our loyalty, diligence and tenacity – we loved America. Even when America refused to allow us to even walk in the shadows, we followed, believing that someday we would come to be accepted as men and women. We have looked out for this country for hundreds of years and still doing today.

Our history is one of unbelievable struggle. We’ve been brave on the battlefield, despite being classified as second class citizens but in every conflict we went beyond the call of duty. Let me add something here: we’ve lived under an Apartheid like system, which is what James Crow offered. We have raised America’s children, attended to its sick, and prepared their meals while the so-called forefathers were occupied with the trappings of the good life. This is to include the times when they found pleasure in our women and enjoyment in seeing our men lynched, maimed and burned. Yet, we continued to watch over America’s soul.

We labored in the hot sun from “Cain’t to Cain’t”, that’s can’t see to can’t see to assist in realizing the dream of wealth, good fortune, and making America great. Those same people of little conscience have controlled at least 90 percent of all the resources and wealth from the beginning, and we were there from the beginning, and we are still here today. Ironically, these folks of ill repute continue to protect the system, or try, from those Black people who have the temerity to speak out against America’s past transgressions, and they do this by divide and conquer.

It was us who warned about Denmark-Vessey, told them about Gabriel Prosser’s plans, called their attention to Nat Turner, Malcolm, and Martin. It was us sounded the alarm when old John Brown came calling on Harper’s Ferry, and there are still some people of color sounding the same warnings to bigots – the Republicans. Black Nationalism has died and as result our community brings 95 percent of what it earns to businesses owned by others and keeps little for themselves.

The less fortunate among us spend all they have at neighborhood stores, enabling them to open even more stores; simply put we will allow anyone to open a business and patronize it in our communities. Some say we, as a people, are successful today, but I shake my head and say really! I am going to take a guess that there is at best a thousand wealthy blacks. To which certain people may say great. Let me remind them that there are more than 40,000,000 of us here! Most living in despair!

We were manipulated into resisting the messages of trouble-making Blacks like Washington, Delaney, Garvey, Bethune, Tubman, Malcolm, and Truth, who fought valiantly and died on the battlefield for us. Yet, most have forgotten their names and hardly ever considered their sacrifice due to a lack of reciprocity and equity. Even though the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments were written and many died for the rights described therein. We did not resist, at all, when they changed Black rights to civil rights and allowed virtually every other group to take advantage of them, which was just another way to.

After all these years and the enormous sacrifices, this goes beyond the imagination, irrespective of the many promises that have been made and broken. Yet, they told us don’t worry, when you die you will find a place where there is a mansion waiting for you with streets paved with gold.

Therefore, in my mind and considering this point of view, yes reparations are deserved! Of course, as some say it will never happen. But I know this for sure; it will never happen as long as we continue to prescribe to the divide and conquer theory that has worked so well for so long. Don’t you think it’s time that we have cried our last tear!

I give most of you credit for knowing that black people were stolen from Africa and robbed of their history and identity, which that along is just cause for reparations. Wake up and free your mind and your ass will follow! And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

Change Is Not Always Change

thI’ll start this “Thought Provoking Perspective” with God Bless America. Everyone knows the party of “No” wants to take over the government to use that power to turn back the hands of time. The characters that have emerged in this movement are scary enough for us to ask for help from someone greater than ourselves. Of course, some of these people are justifying their position, as was done with slavery, in the name of God, which is frightening. These are the same folks who claim they are now being discriminated against.

Back in the day, there were the George Wallace’s, Bull Connor’s, Strom Thurman’s and today we have a new breed; Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh – to name a few. Their rage, from sea to shining sea, infects their followers who create conspiracies and spread false narratives regarding everything to quite neatly put the country into a place of perceived fear. This place they envision or want back was not all great, I know, can remember it; elitism, white privilege, and America’s racial codes were the foundation for segregation, cruelty, and amoral agenda’s. So I suppose the new complexion of America is freighting to those who stole the country in the first place.

Let’s face it; it had been a pretty good run, about 400 years, with little sign of any serious trouble challenging their supremacy. The system was working and humming along as they came up with new forms of government so people of their hue, particularly men, benefited. They controlled or occupied every branch of government for more than two centuries and had sole possession and leadership of its executive branch, where the symbol of power is the White House.

Today that streak has been broken when a non-white president accepted the oath of office six years ago, and they went crazy or at least the right-wing faction. Hatred and bigotry came forth immediately! First they said, the president was not born in the United States; therefore, ineligible to be president. His father was Kenyan and he was born in Hawaii, which they seemed not to realize it was part of the United States. His mother was white, and the man who looks black was brought up largely by his white grandparents, which is really the root of their problem. He’s not black; he’s not white… …is he even human? Tea baggers and many Republicans believe in their hearts that the president is the antichrist. Pure psychodrama!

They believe the devil has taken over the country and for the first time in American history, those who controlled every endeavor for so long [government, finance, politics, business, education, the arts, etc.] are devastated. The man that was voted in office has somehow stolen something from them. The fear of losing their power or being replaced by young brown and black kids is neither the America they know nor the way it is suppose to be. Facing the fact that 40 percent of the nation’s population under 18 is already non-white, with that number significantly higher in the Southwest. By 2023, that number of young non-whites will be an outright national majority.

Its “Like tectonic plates, these slow-moving but irreversible forces may generate enormous turbulence as they grind against each other … At some point, when tectonic plates build up enough tension that destructive energy gets unleashed in a major earthquake.” Actually, this is a pretty good metaphor for what happened the day a black man got elected president. The conservative movement thought the world ended.

Law and Order Theme:

These people don’t seem to remember Bush and are not thinking about how distressed the economy was when Mr. Obama took office or the two wars of which neither was implemented properly or being fought with clear goals. This is to include the housing markets that resembled a war zone; a health system crippled with costs, and an auto industry in the tank. This, one would think should be reason enough to be strong Americans and pull together to fix this mess, right? No….

They lie and distort the information. Let’s add a few more bogeymen to the mix like immigration. They have made Hispanics and others from sweltering southern destinations enemies of the American Dream. Yet, their slave labor is acceptable. As a result, they took extreme measures by passing what amounts to Arizona’s slave laws that would force its residents to carry identity papers with them at all times. Now, jurisdictions around the nation are salivating to follow suit.

You do remember Laura “N-word” Schlesinger and the great white outpouring of support following the bizarre flameout of her radio show. There was a time when even a bigot thought before calling an African American the N-word. Schlesinger used the word to a black woman on air, like twenty times in a minute. Then she implied that she did not want to be NAACP-ed, whatever that means.

The reason Stand your Ground, outrageous open carry gun laws, and the blocking of voting rights were designed; as a not so subtle attempt to ensure that no person of color reside in the White House again. I am just pointing out what appears to be a tone that is not in anyone’s best interest.

Frankly, if these self-professed patriots, who I call terrorists, should obtain all three branches of government – expect an attempt to pass a law to bring slavery back. Listen carefully to the words being used by those of the extreme. And that’s my thought provoking perspective…

What’s Next?

22I often praise the most powerful man on the planet, President Obama, and yes because he looks like me. Our president is strikingly handsome, articulate, likable, a family man, and one of the most accomplished man to occupy White House in many years. Let’s face it; his being elected twice to be president is the most significant event to occur in history since the crucifixion of Christ. No one living or dead ever dream a man of color would live in the house that slaves built. The question now is where do we go now since he will soon be leaving office?

I have said from the beginning of his term that there is not much he could do to correct the wrongs of our past. I think we know his power is restricted, as is any president. However, what he can do and has done though Mr. Holder is to address some of the problems we’ve faced in the justice system, which is a really good thing. Ray Charles can see that the court system is the enemy of our people. Now, if only he has the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice or two and this legacy will affect the system for generations.

There is no question his enemies make stuff up and blame him for everything that happens anywhere in the world – Obama is at fault, and the GOP has been doing this since President Obama took office in 2009. We know they have tried to do everything they could do to make sure he is erased from history. It’s my opinion that these conservatives and others want to make sure that no other black man or person of color ever lives in the White House again.

The president, regardless of what he has or has not done is my hero. This is why; he has been a sterling example of possibilities for future black children to aspire to great heights. As far as his job is concerned, he has done more than the last president, by the way, is never mentioned in any conversation because for all the blame placed on Mr. Obama; the root cause of them was because of the Bush, who caused the destruction of lives and treasure.

Yet, the GOP and Tea Party are saying America is now being destroyed because an ethical, intelligent man is in power. Then there are the rest of the clowns trying to undermine him – wow – what a pitiful lot, but I have seen people like this before. They were once called the “Citizens Counsel”.  I can go on and on, but I won’t because everyone can see this power play. They have been doing it since they stole the country from the Indians.

These people of this ilk prevent job creation to put the blame on President Obama. They have not presented a job’s plan that would actually create jobs since taking control of the House of Representatives. They have been too busy trying to prevent women, gays, unions, and minorities from having voting rights. They have unanimously voted against any bill that would create jobs presented by President Obama, simply because it has been presented by President Obama.

But more appalling these folks deny and are trying to remove the social networks that are designed to assist the needy. To them it doesn’t matter whether you are old, children, or the sick. They make real people suffer because they hate Obama. President Obama is certainly not a Socialist, as evidenced by his love for capitalism and how he helped save it. He doesn’t want the government to run your life; he simply wants a government that enables people to be able to run their own lives.

Saying that Obama hates white people or rich people is about as useful as throwing sand in the sandbox… it’s obviously childish and holds absolutely no proof or clout except for being a nuisance. Obama has undoubtedly proven that he is not soft on terror – just ask some of the world’s most sought after terrorists who now rest in peace.

He has also proven that he is not weak on immigration with record numbers of deportations every year since he has taken office. Obama has opened the lines of communication up further than most Presidents in the past have been able to between Israel and Palestine. He has also made it clear that he believes it’s a woman’s right to choose, although his choice is life.

We will soon have to choose is replacement, a new Congress, and House members. The up-coming elections are the most important of our time and if you don’t choose to vote. You have nothing to say. VOTE!!! And that is my THOUGHT PROVOKING PERSPECTIVE!
