The Color of Power

America for the first time, since its creation, looks like the America that was promised through the founding documents. We know that America is a melting pot of cultures more pronounced than any other nation. All one need to do is compare a Democrat’s political rally to one held by the GOP and the complication is dramatic. For the first time in American history, we have an African American president and Attorneys General who the Good Ol’ Boys have lined both in their sights.

The Citizens Counsel is hot on their trail because of a failed operation known as the Fast and Furious scandal. Well yesterday it took a dramatic turn as the U.S. House of Representatives voted in committee to hold the U.S. attorney general in contempt. This is the wrong fight at the wrong time for the attorney general. Even if the full House follows the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s vote the decision about whether to prosecute him will be left to a Justice Department run by. . . Eric Holder.

What the Good Ol’ Boys do not seem to realize is that these two men are holding all the cards. Now it is clear that this is a political move which is why the president stepped in invoking “executive privilege” to withhold documents. They want us to believe that just using the words “executive privilege” as an excuse to withhold information about government failures on this scale is a loser with the public.

I don’t think this is the case because their arguments in a partisan fashion which is a loser for Republicans to which they assert the Democrats were much worse in their treatment of the Bush Justice Department. That is not a reason to aggressively pursue this tragedy. No Republican or conservative commentator should even raise it. The notion that this is partially motivated by politics is very damaging to what little credibility the GOP has left, and the approach is belittling to agent Brian Terry, who was killed, and unfair to his family.

Lest not forget another very serious matter in this situation and that is the explosive disclosure of national security information, which is quickly turning partisan and is therefore less corrosive for the administration. These are the same Republicans who have produced a side-by-side talking point paper to help explain how differently this matter is being handled than the Valerie Plame investigation that ensnared the Bush White House.

Why would Republicans actually publish a document like this, because not one voter will decide how serious this is and who is to blame based such grievances about the stale, remote Plame matter. Did I mention that it was these guys who have no sense of right or wrong as was demonstrated by way of invasion and torture. How can they forget that and where were the investigations then.

The job description of the Attorney General is supposed to protect a President from legal and political snares, which he has done. So holding him responsible for the botched drug-war operation Fast and Furious that began before him is wrong. Let me also say that it was their hero Reagan who invoked executive privilege 24 times to protects communications directly with the President or his senior aides.

Do you remember the Bush Administration arguments during the battle over the dismissal of several U.S. Attorneys. So I say, compared to Bush Attorney General Alberto Gonzales  – Mr. Holder is a model of candor. So I say, it is a case of color. And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

Guess Who Came To Dinner

So many times the phrase “look how far we’ve come” has been stated that makes one think that everything is alright. Watch this video and just imagine the insanity of racism. Most people don’t know that Booker T. Washington was invited to the White House at the beginning of the last century making him the first black to ever sit at a table with an american president for dinner, instead of serving the guests, and hundreds of blacks people were lynched as a result.

Today, the current president who is black now does the inviting of others. THINK ABOUT IT!!!  And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

WHERE DO THEY FIND THEM

I never use the “N-word”. You know that word that has been reduced to a letter but sometimes it is necessary to make a point. Every so often, they find some Negro who has gone beyond anything rational when it comes to the African American Diaspora. Their latest wing-nut is none other than Congressman Allen West a black Republican and one from Florida – that should say it all – but I digress. Maybe the more appropriate question should be “what is going on down in Florida?”

One of the big-time Republican donors said that President Obama was “the most dangerous man in America.” I beg to differ. I think, from my perspective, that designation is directed toward the wrong person and from my vantage point it should be the Florida Congressman – who I hope will have a short lived political career. He is the person Dr. Carter G. Woodson wrote about in the “Mis-Education of the Negro” where he so eloquently said, “If there is “no back door,” he will make one”.

Can I say West is ignorant of history (I will) because “those who forget the past are bound to repeat its mistakes”. I will remind Mr. West, and I use that loosely, of the fate of a few Republicans that came before him like the ghosts of Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele or J.C. Watts who were dismissed when they were no longer useful.

These Negro’s, and I meant to use that term, who chooses to place great emphasis on being a “conservative.” Must remember that there were and are very influential members of the Ku Klux Klan and other terror groups like the Red Shirts, Knights of the White Camelia and White Citizens Council, many of which wore white sheets and did dreadful things to our people.

Let’s take Cain for example. One of Cain’s shortcomings was that he came on the scene swinging with statement like Blacks who voted Democratic were “brainwashed” and that thirty-five percent of Blacks were ready to vote for him. Then he boldly proclaimed the Koch brothers were his “brothers by another mother.” How did that workout for him. He now resides in the forgotten piles of useless Black Republicans.

Let’s look at another example, Michael Steele former Chairman of the Republican National Committee. When the Republican Party could not settle on a leader after several rounds of voting the GOP tried the Ol’ Willie Lynch strategy that was to pit him against President Obama. What better way to bring down the Black man from the lofty position of leadership than to sic another Black man against him.

Again, this Negro came out swing; “I will engage the Black Community”. The shame in this is; when some of the most vile criticisms and racist characterizations were leveled against President Obama, Steele did not have the guts to say, “Wait a minute this is out of bounds!” See where his treason got him.

Then there is Ol’ Uncle Thomas who was nominated to the Supreme Court replacing the only Black man to sit on the Court. As a Republican, many people believed Thomas was not really a replacement of the Liberal Thurgood Marshall, who was instrumental in the historic 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case in which the Supreme Court ruled that segregation was illegal and unconstitutional.

Let me remind you this is the guy who appears to be sleeping on the bench and said during his confirmation hearing that it was a “high tech lynching.” He went to work; siding with some of the most Conservative rulings imaginable. Let’s see how kind history is to him.

How about J.C. Watts who, and I will only admit this once, I liked. He was young, articulate and good looking; presumably with a great future in the Republican Party. Didn’t seem to work out so well or let me just say he was soon “retired” and only trucked out now and then to make a comment about some insignificant issue? Do these guys sound like Allen Keys, Ward Connelly, or any number of others used by the GOP? Ray Charles who was blind and dead can see this. Maybe thirty pieces of silver is worth more to them than it is to me.

This brings me back to West who came to town to fight Republican battles with the same “Gung Ho” spirit as presumably he did when he was in Afghanistan. The only problem is he wants to fight anyone who is not Republican or more specifically Democrats whose ranks comprise Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians, Handicapped, women and especially immigrants.

The darling of the Tea Party Movement born in the cauldron spewing racial venom toward Obama, needed to attract Black members. They needed a sort of Spook who sat by the Door. Well, they got one because West spoke their language and they bankrolled his candidacy.

West seems to view himself as some kind of supreme patriot! With that said, let me end with this pitiful act. He sent an e-mail message to Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, calling her “vile, unprofessional, and despicable,” “a coward,” “characterless,” and “not a Lady,” and demanded that she “shut the heck up.” Let me suggest that he read it to himself and take his own advice.

And that is my Thought Provoking Perspective…

HEAR’S MITT

I am going to say from the onset that I am a huge supporter of President Obama, mainly because he is my president. Not to mention the fact that he’s brilliant and has done an amazing job in light of what the last president left for him to work with. I won’t profess that I am apolitical because I am not. You see, everything is political and I have lived long enough to know that!

With that said politics, and often times, are those forces that usually have self motivating interests that’s represented by the evils that lurk amongst us. The basis of that interest is money, which has corrupted or is corrupting our system that has never been fair to the least of thee. Moreover, it has become even more diabolical in this political season. Money is the most powerful instrument known to man; at least it is in a capitalistic society. Those who have it will do anything to keep it and to get more of it.

This brings me to my thought for today, which is to share with you in his own words that of a man who, in my opinion, wants to eliminate the least of thee. This man they, the republicans, his own, call “Him”. Known for being a serial “flip flopper” changes like a chameleon. If they don’t want “Him” – then why should we?

Watch the video and you decide for yourself if you want “Him” to be your president of these United States. I am going to agree with what the Former NBA Great Charles Barkley said, “Mitt Romney, hey, listen man, we’re going to beat you like a drum in November”.

And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

He Can’t Handle The Truth

I like to write, which goes without saying that I am passionate about literacy and the written word. Having said that, I can recall reading somewhere that someone said, “I think therefore I am”. Now, I don’t say that to imply that what I think or write is “RIGHT”! But I hope my views though this vehicle will provoke conversation on a wide range of subjects and maybe some sane dialog that will lead to enhancing unity and intellectual civil discourse.

There are many-many concerns, as I see it, which is not in the best interest of furthering humanity. One, and maybe the most dangerous discourse, is the scary political environment today. For example, the challenger to president Obama and the vitriol of the right harkens, in my opinion, back to the days of Jim Crow. If you can’t remember this era or don’t know what this is; it was a time when overt racism was the law of the land. If you don’t agree, let me suggest that you view footage of some of the conservative gathering and you will see the faces of one hue.

But on this Sunday morning, I want to not do what I am accused of doing by some, which is to play the “race card”. Nonetheless, I’ll tell you that I have lived long enough to know that there are two constants in the American Diaspora. One is money and the other is race. I have seen, and believe true, that conservatives will say or do anything to support their position on matters relating concerning either. For example, the presumed challenger, who many republicans call “Him”, has a long documented history in this area. He will say anything – regardless of fact and more often than not fiction.

He gave a speech recently and started by saying – “Good morning”. The problem with that was it was in the afternoon. The accuracy of his statements went downhill from there. He blamed the president for the “weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression.” When in fact, it was the last president whose name they never mention who was responsible for that problem.

He went on to say that he would save “about $100 billion a year” eliminating Obamacare and accused the president of “taking a series of steps that end Medicare as we know it.” He made the claimed that the president had created an “unaccountable panel, with the power to prevent Medicare from providing certain treatments.” Incorrect, wrong, , not true, and fictitious. This is just an example taken from one speech delivered by Romney on a given day. Fortunately, there are fact-checkers.

Because he does not always, mostly not, tell the truth is hardly news. Voters and most knowledgeable people already know there are lies, damn lies, and politics. Certainly, Romney has abundant company in his mendacity. But the fact that fibs are routine doesn’t make them less insidious. Romney’s fast-and-loose play with the facts — deployed equally against his Republican rivals and Obama — is particularly disappointing because it is unnecessary.

PolitiFact has awarded Romney its “Pants on Fire” or “False” ratings for 32 claims. Among them are these: that Obama “didn’t even mention the deficit or debt” in his State of the Union address, that “our Navy is smaller than it’s been since 1917,” that Obama “never worked in the private sector,” that Obama “gave” the automakers “to the UAW,” and that “we’re only inches away from no longer being a free economy.”

The recent speech that I began with, where Mitt said “Good Morning”, alone had more than a dozen distortions, including allegations that: Obama “has failed to even pass a budget” (Congress passes budget resolutions, which the president doesn’t sign); Obama created a panel empowered to deny treatments under Medicare (the board can only make recommendations, and only if Congress fails to find Medicare cuts), Obama “has added regulations at a staggering rate” (the Business Roundtable just said it “lauded” the administration’s attempt at regulatory reform).

In that same speech PolitiFact noted that no fewer than three Romney claims merited their covenanted “Pants on Fire” rating: that Obama led “a government takeover of health care,” has been “apologizing for America abroad” and is ending “Medicare as we know it.” Romney’s assertions that Obama “is the only president to ever cut $500 billion from Medicare” and that eliminating Obamacare saves “about $100 billion” were rated false.

For Romney to resort to such gratuitous falsehoods discredits him, in my opinion, as a man ethically challenged and someone with limited moral character, and not the kind of man I want to be president. All of this and these kinds of untruths leads me to concluded that when you have nothing to say, you will say anything! And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

Which Mitt Will We Get

As they say, “It’s a Wrap”! Mitt Willard Romney will be the Republican presidential nominee to challenge President Obama this fall. Frankly, it should not be much of a contest when you consider there are two of “HIM”. You know many Republicans, his people, refer to him as “HIM”. I wonder if he will need to select a vice presidential running mate because one of “HIM” could serve in that capacity.

Let me explain, there is the Mitt who is a fiscal conservative, socially moderate, Wall Street-style Republican who believes in compromise to get things done. The other Mitt is a far-right zealot who accuses Democrats of trying to impose godless socialism and claims that what hangs in the balance this fall is nothing less than liberty itself. I should add that both are dedicated to the Mormon faith, which begs the question of his conscience, in my mind, because of the cult’s historical view of African America’s.

During the campaign as he competed against the other GOP wing-nuts. You remember Slick Rick, a genuine far-right zealot – both Perry and Santorum. Then there was Gingrich, a master of rhetorical excess or Ron Paul who is way out there and let’s not forget Herman Cain. In the mix of this cast of characters Mitt showed us that he would say anything, true or not, to convince the GOP base that he could be every bit as extreme as his opponents. So for the “Flip-Flopper” it could be said has many sides or “two faces” which speaks to ethics and that speaks volumes.

For example, his positions on illegal immigration is that those living in this country without documentation must be picked up and leave the country, what he calls “self-deportation” – a term he coined – and said they should not be given “a special pathway” to citizenship.

He is also on record for having supported allowing at least some undocumented immigrants to remain in the country and begin “a process of registering for a citizenship, applying for citizenship.” He once described his position as “reasonable” via a comprehensive immigration reform package proposed by Sens. John McCain and Ted Kennedy that included a form of amnesty.

Similarly, on health-care reform, Mitt vows to repeal President Obama’s Affordable Care Act and denounces the individual health insurance mandate at the core of the legislation. As most Americans know one of “HIM” pioneered the individual mandate when he was governor of Massachusetts.

Another issue was his acceptance of the scientific consensus that human activity is contributing to climate change, remember that he made Massachusetts the first state to limit carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. Now he has a very different opinion: “My view is that we don’t know what’s causing climate change on this planet… and the idea of spending trillions and trillions of dollars to try to reduce CO2 emissions is not the right course for us.”

If he wins the election he has said he will cut taxes for the rich and cut everything he can for the rest of us. So if he wins – we lose. As governor, he respected Roe v. Wade as the law of the land and declined to pursue initiatives that could restrict a woman’s right to abortion. Now, he supports the reversal of Roe v. Wade, calling it “bad law and bad medicine,” and describes himself as irreversibly anti-abortion.

What is troubling to me is his strong faith and its view, or foundation, in the fact that African Americans are not human beings. In essence, black people are a scourge upon mankind and we should not exist. Therefore, if the choice is “HIM” – there is no choice! Obama should not have to debate Mitt at all. He can just stand by while Romney argues with himself. And that’s my Thought Provoking Perspective…

A Must Hear Reality

Never before in the history of America has such vial despicable language been espoused against a sitting president. PLEASE LISTEN as the honorable Minister Farrakhan exposes the hate-filled rhetoric and writings of right-wing conservative elected officials and influential members of American society directed at President Barack Obama and his family.

Forget what you may perceive as the Ministers politics – this is the reality of truth.

The Jig is Up

I love to praise the most powerful man on the planet, particularly because he looks like me. Our president is strikingly handsome, articulate, likable, a family man, and accomplished as the incumbent in the White House that the fools who call themselves Republicans want to defeat.

They make stuff up, which is exactly what the GOP has been doing since President Obama took office. I get the sense that before this campaign is over one of them will call the Chief the “N-Word”; after all one of those guys had a lodge that was called the N-Word Head. Hmmmm.

We know they have tried to do everything they could to make sure the history making event that made him president is over with this term. Now, it is my opinion that they want to make sure that no other black man or person of color ever lives in the White House again. This man, my hero, has done more than the last several presidents to save us from destruction. Yet, it is the GOP who would rather see American destroyed. What a deplorable lot but I’ve seen their kind before in the form of a group called the “Citizens Counsel”.

I can go on and on but I won’t because we can all see this power play. They have been doing it since they stole the land from the Indians. His opponents will go so far as to prevent job creation to put the blame on President Obama. They have not presented a jobs plan that would actually create jobs since taking control of the House of Representatives or at any time for that matter. They have been too busy trying to prevent women, gays, and unions from having rights of their own. They have unanimously voted against any bill that would create jobs presented by President Obama, simply because it was presented by President Obama.

Many parts of his jobs plan include old Republican ideas that the GOP has been quick to disavow now that Obama presents it back to them. When the only thing you have against Obama is something that you have to manufacture to make him look bad, you will be the ones to look bad in the end.

President Obama was indeed born in the USA and it has been proven more than once. President Obama is certainly not a Socialist, as evidenced by his love for capitalism and how he helped save it. He doesn’t want the government to run your life; he simply wants a government that enables people to be able to run their own lives.

Obama actually granted more gun rights by allowing individuals to be able to carry a weapon into national parks. President Obama’s health care law simply holds insurance companies accountable to actually care for the people they insure, and to provide a mandate that will end up being cost-effective because fewer people will be reliant on the government dime. The Affordable Care Act also prevents insurance companies from neglecting individuals that need care the most.

Saying that Obama hates white people or rich people is about as useful as throwing sand in the sand box… it’s obviously childish, and holds absolutely no proof or clout except for being a nuisance. Obama has undoubtedly proven that he is not soft on terror by his recent international take-down of the worlds most sought after terrorists.

He has also proven that he is not weak on immigration with record numbers of deportations every year since he has taken office. Obama has opened the lines of communication up further than most Presidents in the past have been able to between Israel and Palestine. He has also made it clear that he believes it’s a woman’s right to choose, and his choice is life. Lest they not forget he got be Laden and a whole lot of others. That is really something to consider as they make up or manufacture “Bull S###”. Get used to it the jig is up; he will be reelected.

And that is my THOUGHT PROVOKING PERSPECTIVE!

THE BEST THING WE CAN DO FOR THE COUNTRY IS TO SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT AND VOTE.
